Erlichiosis

Erlichiosis

Ehrlichiosis is a tick-borne disease common in dogs. We’ve been seeing a lot of this in the community lately and it’s something you should be checking your dogs for.
Common signs are:

  • Fever and lethargy
  • Weight loss or loss of appetite
  • Abnormal bleeding or discharge
  • Eye inflammation
  • Vomiting and diarrhea.

Common places ticks hide on dogs are under the collar, inside of ears, near the eyelids, private areas and between toes. Ehrlichiosis is treatable but if left untreated can be quite dangerous. We recommend keeping your dog on a year-round flea and tick prevention medication.

We have some sad news to share today - We will have to close Waggin Tails vet clinic for the foreseeable future. As many of you know, we are trying to find ways to support DAS financially so we set up a private vet clinic to try and raise funds.
